Free Business Forms for Writers

With the new year fast-approaching, now is the perfect time to think about making your freelance writing business more "official." Keeping better records will not only help you to work more productively, but it can help you protect your rights to your work and deal with difficult situations that may arise with clients. It's always a good idea to get everything in writing, even if we don't always actually do it.

The LectLaw Library offers quite a few free business forms. They're not specifically tailored to freelance writers, but there are quite a few there that you may find useful, including:

  • Assignment of Contract
  • Assignment of Copyright
  • Demand for Payment
  • Independent Contractor Agreement
  • Subcontractor Agreement

  1. Thanks for the forms. I subcontracted some writing work last month and couldn’t find a form to use. I ended up making my own, which made me uncomfortable (I don’t know enough about laws to protect myself). So this one really helps.

  2. I’ve been using my own forms (something I wiped out using examples off the internet) but always worry that the legal lexicon is not completely right. This makes me feel a little bit better in that aspect.
