Free Scrivener Template for Managing Multiple Blogs

Recently I wrote about my decision to move to Scrivener for blogging. I also released a free scrivener template for bloggers that allows you to easily manage a single blog as its own project.

But personally, I use Scrivener to manage multiple blogs, and I manage them all from a single project file so I can see all of my blogs' content in one place. Today I'm releasing another free template that can help you do the same.

About the Multi-Blog Scrivener Template

In this template, I've included three sample blog folders. You can change their names to match your blogs, duplicate them, or delete them as you see fit. You can see the Binder view breakdown below.

Scrivener Multi-Blog Template

The example blogs listed as "business blog" and "niche blog" use a date-based organization structure similar to that in my single-blog Scrivener template. There are subfolders for each year, and then each month within each year. The May 2014 folder contains the same MultiMarkdown guide if you're interested in learning how to write using MMD in Scrivener for cleaner conversions to HTML.

The example blog called "personal blog" uses a category-based structure instead. Again, you should rename the folders to match your blog's categories, and you can duplicate the folders as necessary.

This template also includes a folder for editorial calendars with documents for each blog, and there is a folder for blog post ideas which again has a document set up for each blog. It's basically everything you saw in the single-blog template, but more of it. The only exception is the Outlines folder, which I've removed. I felt that would get too complicated with multiple blogs and it would be better to keep outlines directly in your initial draft files in each blog's main folder instead.

This template should work for both the Windows and Mac versions.

download

To use this template, download the .zip file (compressed) above. Then decompress it / extract the file. Create a new project using Scrivener, and instead of choosing an existing template, choose "import templates" from the options menu at the lower left of your window. After you have imported the file, it should show up with your other templates when you create a new project (under the "miscellaneous" section).

  1. Thank you for the templates. I’m a Scrivener newbie with a couple of blogs, and your templates are encouraging me to make the switch to Scrivener for blogging. 🙂 it’s handy to keep everything in one place.

  2. Great article (and freebie)!

I write for three distinct entities — Patch.com; a Google blog (where I write ‘blue’ stuff I’d rather not have on my website); and my website.

I never know where or how to organize these three ‘personalities’, so I’ll try out your template.

    Thanks!

  4. Hi Jenn,

I downloaded your template but I wasn´t able to import it to Scrivener in latest version. Do you have any idea why? It´s version 2.8.1.2 (26324).

I´m a newbie with scrivener but normally with no IT-problems ;-).

    Thanks a lot!

    • How did you try to import it? And did you remember to extract it from the .zip first? I was able to import without a problem a couple of weeks ago when someone else had an issue with it. But in that case they were trying to open / import as if it was a project rather than a template file. That seems to be the most common mistake, so I hope it’s nothing more serious. If you let me know what you tried, I might be able to help you figure it out, or I might be able to replicate the issue. 🙂

  5. Thank you for the templates. I am writing a devotional and was looking for something that might work and I believe I found it in one of your templates. I also have a blog but am new to Scrivener, so I am in a learning curve. Thank you for helping make some areas easier to manage.
