5 Free Scrivener Templates

If you've been following this blog for a while you might have seen some of my free Scrivener templates. Unfortunately those are a bit scattered throughout the blog, and I've had a couple of folks this week email me trying to find one of my blogging templates and another reader asked for recommendations about mystery templates without realizing I'd released one here. So I thought it was about time for a Scrivener template round-up.

Below you can find links to the current five templates I've released. If, or when, I release more they'll also be added to this list.

Not all of these free Scrivener templates will be relevant to you. There's one for authors, two for bloggers, and two for freelance writers.

Please remember that these aren't project files. You can't simply open them in Scrivener. They're templates, which means you'll need to import them into your template collection before you can use them (instructions can be found on individual template download pages).

  1. Scrivener Mystery Novel Template
  2. Scrivener Blogging Template (for managing a single blog)
  3. Scrivener Blogging Template (for managing multiple blogs in a single project file)
  4. Scrivener White Paper Template (for freelance writing projects)
  5. Scrivener Case Study Template (for freelance writing projects)

I'm always open to ideas if there are other templates you'd like to see. Feel free to leave suggestions in the comments or email me about them, and I'll add them to my release list if they seem like a good fit.

  1. Thank you for this. I downloaded the blogging template and as I’m on a Mac I simply imported the template to Scrivener and it worked like a charm.

I really appreciate the trouble you took to create these templates.

    • No problem Woelf. I’m creating these for my own use anyway, so why not release them for others to use? I’m glad you were able to get one of the templates imported to your Mac version easily. 🙂

  2. I must join in and say “Thank You,’ for these cool templates. It’s nice to see cool work and even nicer to get to share in it.

Keep up the good work. Write on!

  3. Hi, thank you for the templates, really awesome 🙂 I was wondering if you had one for short story format? Thanks in advance.

    • Thanks Vivienne. 🙂

I don’t have a short story Scrivener template yet, but that’s one I’ve been considering. I received a couple of other requests via email after this post, so next week I’ll put together a list, see which ones I can do, and schedule them in. 🙂

  4. Thank you so much for all the great information and templates! I am new to Scrivener and wanting to write a devotional (short chapters with questions following type) book. Not sure what template would fit this best. Do you have any recommendations?
