Earlier this week, I went off on Elance / Upwork for their BS blogger outreach efforts that targeted me and several other colleagues (I've heard from at least six others now who were a part of this supposed "handful" of targeted blogs). In that post, I shared a simple infographic highlighting the three big mistakes Upwork made, in the hopes that other businesses would see it and learn from it.
However, that infographic was tucked into the very end of the article. So, keeping with this week's theme, I felt it deserved its own space as this week's "short share" post.
If you're thinking about reaching out to bloggers (or are a freelancer with a client who wants you to help with a campaign like this), try not to make these three major blogger relations mistakes.

Good one!
I’ve been approached by many companies, from top career sites to media agencies. When I read the emails, I smile and say out loud, “Who wrote this? Shouldn’t you know better? How did you get hired into the position you have within the company?” It pays to do your research! 🙂
Exactly. In this one, I believe they just used the phrase “marketing team.” All I could think was “then they need a new marketing team.” Then again, with a company as lousy as this one, it’s going to be a “lipstick on a pig” proposition for any marketing team involved.
Thanks Jennifer!
You just simplified/broke down all Adam Connell said in his post and added tips from your own experience, the infographic can serve as a reference point for whoever is drafting or planning on sending a blogger outreach.:)
Thanks Boachie. I hope you found the graphic helpful. 🙂
Blogger outreach is the most popular method and must have part of white hat link building strategy in 2016 and we are also getting good benefit of it.
